Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices
The Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP) is an attached office of
the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. It is
mandated to recommend minimum support prices (MSPs) to incentivize the
cultivators to adopt modern technology, and raise productivity and overall grain
production in line with the emerging demand patterns in the country. Assurance
of a remunerative and stable price environment is considered very important for
increasing agricultural production and productivity since the market place for
agricultural produce tends to be inherently unstable, which often inflict undue
losses on the growers, even when they adopt the best available technology
package and produce efficiently.

Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare
The DA & FW is organized into 28 Divisions and has five attached offices and
twenty-one subordinate offices which are spread across the country for
coordination with state level agencies and implementation of Central Sector
Schemes in their respective fields. Further, one Public Sector Undertakings,

Indian Council of Agricultural Research
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organisation
under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The Council is the apex
body for co-ordinating, guiding and managing research and education in
agriculture including horticulture, fisheries and animal sciences in the entire
country. With 113 ICAR institutes and 74 agricultural universities spread across
the country this is one of the largest national agricultural systems in the

National Dairy Development Board
The National Dairy Development Board's (NDDB) creation is rooted in the

National Horticulture Board
The National Horticulture Board (NHB) was set up by the Government of India in
1984 as an Autonomous organization under the administrative control of Ministry
of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and registered as a society under Societies
Registration Act with its headquarters at Gurugram. Presently, NHB has 29 field
offices located all over the country. The broad aims and objectives of the Board
are to develop production clusters/hubs for integrated Hi-tech commercial
horticulture, development of Post-harvest and cold chain infrastructure,
ensuring availability of quality planting material and to promote adoption of
new technologies/tools/ techniques for Hi-tech commercial horticulture etc.
